Seize the Day

Seize The Day provides the opportunity for Lighthouse Disability clients to find joy and remember that ‘all things are possible’.

Date posted: Author: Lighthouse Disability

David Hyde was a client at Lighthouse Disability for nineteen years. He came to Leveda as an 18 year old and sadly passed away on August 2 2019, aged 36.

Although David had severe disabilities, including spastic quadriplegia, total vision impairment and epilepsy, he faced life as an adventure to be enjoyed to the full. He tried many different experiences including sailing, swimming, listening to music and audio books, going to the theatre, riding in trains and on the model steam trains and his obvious enjoyment and zest for everything was easily visible to all.

In lieu of flowers at David’s funeral, his parents, Jane and Sam asked that donations be directed to Lighthouse Disability.

These funds will be used to encourage other people with disability to try new experiences. If a new activity is enjoyed, it is also hoped that it might be possible to secure funding in a NDIS funding plan to continue that.

David broke boundaries and challenged people’s perceptions of disability every day and lived a life full of joy.

Seize The Day provides the opportunity for other Lighthouse Disability clients to find that same joy and remember the ‘all things are possible’.

To apply for Seize the Day fill out the application form and send it diane@lighthousedisability.org.au before 5:00 pm Friday 13 May.
